About the book:
A new book on Shakespeare, Vintage Shakespeare is a collection of articles of the highest calibre. The essays focus on the plays of the middle phase of Shakespeare, the period of his greatest creativity which spawned the Problem plays, the Roman plays and the Tragedies. The writers are reputed Shakespeare scholars from USA, UK, Australia, India and Bangladesh who have used interpretations and points of view that arise from their different cultures. The collection represents a celebration of the continuing interest in Shakespeare studies around the world.
A wide variety of approaches are used in the essays as modes of analysis. The book is a collection of the papers presented at an International Seminar on Shakespeare. It commemorates the enormous contribution of Dr. Nagarajan, (erstwhile Head of Department, Pune) who established Pune as a primary centre for Shakespeare studies.
About the editors:
Prashant K. Sinha has many years of experience in teaching Drama at post-graduate level. He has had a brilliant career in academics, spanning different universities. While modern drama is his chosen field of specialization, he has continued to uphold the importance of Shakespeare in any course on drama. His publications include Aspects of Literary Criticisms, Literature and Politics in Twentieth Century America and John Osborne's Look Back in Anger and several articles in national and international journals.
Mohini Khot is a Ph.D & an alumna of Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University. Currently a Reader and Head of Department at St. Mira's College, Pune University, her areas of research have been Feminism and the concepts of game, play and role as discovered in the plays of nine dramatists from the age of Shakespeare to Albee and Pinter. Her articles have been published in University Journals & in the Journal of Indian Writing in English.
